If you have been doing your regular rounds at various fashion blogs lately, you’ll know how trendy color blocking is. You will also know that this fashion trend is basically the way of putting together an ensemble that is composed of two or more solid color pieces together. If you’ve also seen the most fashionable of people have their take at this trend, you’ll know how gorgeous it is.
Now, if you’re not the kind of person who wears a lot of color, especially at the same time, you might run away from this trend. However, before you go and turn your back from this exquisite style of dressing up, you might want to hear out why it’s so popular.
Generally, a lot of people like to color block because it helps them stand out. If you wear a number of loud and contrasting colors in a sea of monotones could really help you get some attention. Also, it’s an excellent technique to hide your flaws. You see, when you color block, you’re not just supposed to wear colors. You can easily wear a two-toned top, for example, with a bright color in the bodice and then a dark hue for the sleeves. This could easily aid you in hiding flabby arms. You can also start color blocking on your lower torso, from your pants or skirt and shoes.

So, now that you already have some reasons why you should try color blocking, the next step would be to learn how to actually do it. A lot of fashion blogs will show you how it’s done, but not a lot of them will give you fashion tips on how to do it. Luckily, the “rules” are pretty easy.
First off, make sure to know what colors go with you. This way, you can avoid those that don’t flatter your body type or skin tone. Also, never be afraid to experiment. You can wear complimenting or even contrasting shades together if you have the guts for it.
If you’re too shy to go ahead and experiment, you can always just get color blocked pieces off the stores. A lot of readymade items like bags, shoes, and even dresses are now following this fashion trend, so you can always take the easy way and pair these pieces with black or other dark colors to make them pop out. Just remember not to pair two color blocked pieces together, unless you want to look like you’re someone straight out from a fashion editorial.
