It’s time to pack it up and get going again, and if you are like most people, relocating can seem like more than a little bit of a headache.
However, it doesn’t have to completely rule your world from now until the big day. Simply be strategic and try to heed these four “Do’s” and “Don’ts.”
1) DO: Shop Around for Local MoversWhether you’re hiring St. Louis movers or a company elsewhere in the country, one thing’s for sure – prices vary. What a company includes in their services can also change from business to business.
As such, one of the first things you should do is to get multiple quotes – binding, in-house estimates if possible – from at least three different organizations. Then you can assess your budget, as well as think about what you require for help and what you can do yourself, to be certain it’s affordable.
2) DON’T: Assume It’s All Or Nothing – Full Service or DIYOne mistake that many on-the-go individuals tend to make is to simply assume that they can’t afford any professional help and will have to go it completely alone.
The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of solutions available that have varying levels of do-it-yourself, hands-on work involved.
For instance, many businesses do offer a full menu of services, where you can have them pack, clean and even do other extra things you need for a fee, such as set up electronic equipment. However, many will also just transport your belongings for you at a certain cost, while you do the packing and loading.
Another option is trying portable storage. Pods and similar choices allow you to pack at your leisure, and then a truck will come take your storage and deliver it to your new home for you to unload. Or, you can have it taken to a facility for the time being until you need it.
