1. Customize it

  •  There are many ways to customize your clothing. Plain colored hoodies are a great, easy and fun way to start! You can start by sewing on letters on the back of your hoodie. You can spell out your name, nickname, favorite number or even a jersey number of your favorite athlete! Sew these on with some old fabric if you have any. If not, use an old pair of jeans you do not use! If you have an old shirt that has a logo or a picture on it, you can sew that on there too! You can sew anything you want onto a plain colored hoodie!

2. Add fun fabric

  •  Fortunately, for these plain colored hoodies, you get to start with a blank-slate. What I mean by ‘add fun fabric’ is, buy (unless you already have some) some fun (meaning animal print, stripes, splatters, colorful printed fabric) fabric and sew it onto the hoodie! You can sew it to the inside of the hood, use ‘fun’ fabric as the strings, or even the whole inside of the hoodie!

3. Make it a coat!

  •  Making your old hoodie a coat makes a strong fashion statement. Cut down the front of the hoodie and sew on some BIG buttons is all you need to do! Do not forget to take measurement first of where you would like to cut, and what style of coat you want to make!

4. Turn it into a blazer

  •  For a chic, modern, mature look, cut the sleeves of you old hoodie to your elbow, cut down the front in the appropriate manner (meaning in the style of blazer you are trying to achieve) and measurements, and sew where you need to “take in”. You can add buttons if you would like, but depending on the style of blazer, you would not have to. This is a great way to personalize your hoodie.

5. Turn into a vest

  • This is fun to do with kids’ hoodies! Children either tend to dirty things up fast, or get bored with things fast. Making an old, dirty-sleeved hoodie into a vest is a great way to re-use and personalize their hoodie! Just cut according to his or her body measurements, add a few buttons, and sew where it needs done!

Children and kids love to have their stuff personalized! Research all the things you can do to personalize old hoodies or T-shirts to make your child feel in-style with their friends!
