Marketing Advice For The Small Business

For the average business owner marketing can be a slightly cloudy area. If your business is small you may not be able to justify bringing in a marketing professional to manage all your marketing needs. It is possible to manage this yourself though using only a little time every day. You just need to understand what exactly your business needs and how it can be done as efficiently but effectively as possible. Here is a look at various marketing methods and how they can help your business grow-

Digital Marketing

Internet marketing is essential to almost every business and there are few that could get away without practicing it. It isn’t enough for your company to have a website; your website needs to be easily found by potential customers and clients. The easiest way to do this is to ensure your sites are on search engines. Many of us just assume that when someone searches for our services or products they will come across our website but this isn’t always the case. Try doing a search for your website using key words that others might use when looking for what you do. If you’re not on the first page you need to look into SEO or PPC.

SEO is a method of increasing your rankings on search engines for targeted keywords increasing the traffic to your website and the interest in your business. PPC is paid advertising also on search engines used to increase traffic but at a set cost every time someone clicks through to your site. SEO and PPC can be read up on online and self taught.

Social Media Marketing

A great way to generate interest in your business is through social media. Since sites like Facebook and Twitter took off in a big way businesses have taken advantage of this highly effective and free method of marketing. It’s pretty easy to manage but there is a knack to getting it right. There are lots of sites out there and some companies choose to use all, but in keeping with the theme of small business advice I’d recommend using the two most popular sites- Facebook and Twitter. Using these will bring the best results with minimum effort put in.

Use both these sites to build followers, so offer advice, offer deals and discounts and contribute useful information that is relevant to your line of business. This will help you gain loyal followers and customers.

Traditional Marketing

Online marketing certainly has taken over traditional marketing, but some of the age old methods are still effective and worth trying for the right kind of business. Traditional marketing methods include-

Advertising- I.E. News papers, television adverts and street adverts (buses, trains, billboards).

Networking- Networking is great for any business especially in the early days of launching. Use networking events to make contacts and spread the name of your business to get the ball rolling.

Street Stunts- Street stunts are considered by some as ineffective as we are increasingly busy and few of us have time to stop in the street to talk to someone or watch a stunt. Get it right though and carry out a really unique street stunt that grabs a lot of people’s attention and it can help spread the word of your business name.

How Can You Build A Brand Without Any Money?

Many of us have come across a novel idea that may very well be the "next big thing" to hit the market. However, a lack of finances may deter us from ever realising what may be a lucrative and rewarding dream. In these economic times that seem to be defined by a lack of finance and tighter lending regulations, this is often times the unfortunate case. While it may seem a bit unorthodox, money is not necessarily the main determinant for success. In fact, some of the most successful brands have arisen from little or even no capital. While sites such as this one provide valuable resources for those that may be on a shoestring budget, but are there any ways to find success with no money at all? The answer to this daunting question may very well surprise you!

Personal Magnetism

Many salesmen attribute their success as having to do as much with their personality as it does to the product at-hand. It is a proven fact that a customer is buying the person along with the product. Personal magnetism, charm and positive energy are all critical factors when transferring an idea from the drawing board into the marketplace. Some of the most powerful businessmen in history were able to utilise their sheer willpower alone to find investors, secure finances and bring their dreams to life. There are many websites including the one found here that offer a more in-depth understanding of this critical area.

Trade Events

Industry-related gatherings are another excellent way to meet like-minded individuals and present your product to those who may be interested. In the world of business, success revolves just as much around who you know as it what you know. There have been very few ventures that have realised profit without the help of outside stakeholders. Trade events and other fairs are pivotal in helping to increase your contact base; perhaps allowing you to find that one investor who truly believes in what you are offering.

Social Media

The power of the internet has become altogether apparent in recent years and social media platforms are now the arena of choice in helping a company reach their target demographic. The advantage that these sites have is the simple fact that they are both user-friendly and cost absolutely nothing. If we couple this with the ability to literally reach millions of potential customers from across the globe in real-time, we can begin to understand why such websites have taken the lead in countless internet marketing campaigns.

Offer Extraordinary Service and Support

One of the tenets of developing a loyal customer base is allowing the public associate a particular brand with quality and unrivaled levels of service. It costs very little to keep customers happy. Although another well-established company may offer a similar product, consumers need to feel as if their individual needs are being addressed. This may be thought of as bringing a bit of the old "mom and pop store" mentality into modern times. When a large number of companies may offer a virtually identical product, this type of proactive client engagement may be the ultimate determining factor.

These are some of the most efficacious ways to help build a brand from the ground-up with no capital. Combining these tips with others found on sites including this one will provide you with valuable tools to help transform a dream into a reality. Naturally, such success stories rarely happen overnight. Triumph in the business world takes time, acumen, insight and a solid willpower to move forward even when presented with a certain amount of adversity. This dream of success may be closer than you think!

Three Ways To Maintain The Confidence Of Your Clients Online

When you are working with clients, you need to provide them with the access that they want to have and the ability to have that access whenever they may need it. This is the only way that you will be able to make sure that you are getting the success that you are after. Take into consideration what it is that your clients are looking for and make sure that you are able to provide it.

One of the ways that you will be able to provide them with the access they are looking for is to provide them with online access to your business.

As you provide online access to your clients, you will want to make sure that they feel confident accessing your site online. This means making sure that they will be able to view the site in the first place. It also means making sure that their information will be protected. Of course,

you should also make sure that they are given the ability to have the best experience online. This will help you to get more of what you need through your website.

Provide Access to Your Website

Having a website will not mean anything if no one has the ability to see it. This is why it is important to use something like the very best VPS hosting to make sure that your website is accessible to all who want to see it.

When using this kind of server, you will have the knowledge that enough bandwidth is being given to your site so that as many people as possible can visit your site at once without it crashing. Making sure that you are using a great company will give you the confidence that you are getting more for what you are paying.

Protecting Information on the Site

Whenever you are using the best VPS hosting, you will also have the confidence that the financial information of the people visiting your website will be protected. This is possible because they company that supplies the server also provides powerful firewalls.

This assures that the information on the site is only accessible to you and your clients. Make sure you are doing your part by limiting who has access within your organization.

Enhancing the Online Experience

If you want for people to keep coming back to your website, you will need to give them a reason to do so. Give them more than just dry information that is static. Don’t just put a store online without ever adding to it. Keep the content fresh. Keep a blog on the site. Fill the site with useful facts and tidbits of information.

Make it an integral part of your clientele’s lives and they will return to the site whenever they have the excuse to do so.

If you are following these three guidelines, you will be able to have the kind of confidence that your clients are looking for when they are visiting your website. This will make them want to come back more and will allow you to enjoy better overall success.

How To Use Social Media More Effectively In Online Business

When the term "social media" is brought up, most of us specifically think about social networking services. Such thoughts give a hint of how we can utilize social media to bear on our businesses. A social network service serves to establish and encourage communication as well as social relations among individuals - people who share similar interests, relationships and actions. With the current promotions and improvements in the ways of doing business, the use of social media has proven to be one of the most reliable ways of reaching target customers. Ideally, when a business is part of another person's business, the interactions that are established will facilitate the earning of rewards by both parties. It is a marketing mechanism for other customers will be able to see the partner's products. What this means is that one person's conversations will trigger a chain of conversations within that person's social network. This will serve the purpose of a positive word of mouth for a business.

In order to excel in the use of social media, there are essential factors that are worth noting. It is of essence to understand that social media will naturally move the audience thus keeping them occupied.

How to use social media more effectively in online business

1. Keep Your Social Networks Manageable

It should always be understood that success in social media marketing has something to do with management. It doesn't pay to employ too many social networks if we have fewer resources. Unless there are plenty of resources to do the accounts, it is advisable to make use of few but manageable networks. All networks should be regularly updated so that clients will have new things to learn. As an online marketer, you should bear in mind that the creation of meaningful and engaging content demands time and other resources.

2. Don’t Focus Too Much On the Number of Subscribers

The number of followers that we have doesn't determine the reliability and quality of their engagement. It is important to concentrate on building an audience. If your audience serves only to exist rather that participating actively, then things will prove to be difficult for you. All your social media efforts should be directed towards establishing meaningful relationships.

3. Updating Of Information Should Be Done At Intervals

Posting everything at once will not help because you will spam your followers. It is advisable to spread the posts at regular intervals to as to ensure that the followers are engaged constantly.

4. Always Respond To Comments

The best way to keep your followers is to comment on their concerns. By responding to them, you will be portraying that you are a businessman that can be trusted. It is a means of showing that you are accessible to your clients.

5. Post Relevant Content

Sharing entertaining and interesting posts is an essential aspect in social media marketing. Nevertheless, we should seek to ensure that whatever we post is relevant to our brands. If you fail to share a content that is not relevant to what you are selling, then why should you seek followers in the first place?

6. Learn the Tactics of Social Media Marketing

When you decide to use the social media, you should always understand that at one point in time, you will come across negative commentators and trolls. Whenever you come across comments from such individuals, you should not respond negatively. It pays to be a better party and therefore you should try to respond to their comments positively and in a tactful manner.

7. Always Understand That the Social Media Is All About You

Yes! Indeed, it is your page but remember that what you share goes straight to your audience. Therefore, you should focus on creating content that you would love others to hear about you and your brands.

Conclusion

Social media will always be in the best side of marketing every business. Regardless of what is being run online, it is of essence to build and establish credibility in the online environment. It should be remembered that any type of social media is capable of sparking impressive progress in business. However, online sellers are advised to focus on the following:

  • They should strive to gather enough followers

  • They should share their updated content as soon as possible. The sharing should be practiced frequently.

The Future Of Home Business

Nowadays, most home designs are created with a home office in mind. This is an indication that more and more people would rather work from home. It is probable that in the future, more folks will be working at home because of the numerous benefits that are associated with the trade. It is therefore safe to say that the future of home business is really looking promising. There are quite a number of things that can be factored in when it comes to this topic:

More Employees

One of the things that you will most likely see in the future of home business is the fact that there will likely be more employees in the business. This is where the home business can function like a normal business where the owner has a few staff under who work for him/her. These people will not live in the house but just come in and go as they would in a normal office. One of the things that makes this possible is because home offices are often completely detached from the main structure of the home, thus giving enough room to increase production.

Growth of Economy

In the future, it will be more likely that the registration of home business will most likely increase. This is definitely a good thing for the economy as it implies that it will grow because of increased revenue collection from businesses. This will also go a long way in improving the quality of life because it will create employment as well as a source of revenue for many households. Most people like to go down the route of a home business because of the flexibility and convenience that is associated with the job, which helps to increase productivity.

New Technologies

Something that you will most likely notice when it comes to the future of home business is new technologies will definitely grow. Creative minds definitely do not wish to be left behind when the world is going ahead. This is why you will most probably see apps that can be used to manage businesses at home. These things will help individuals to conduct business in a much simpler and fun manner. This perhaps comes as a wake up call to all the people who are already in business at home or those who would like to make one. It simply means that they will have to be on top of things to make use of any new technologies that check into the market to help them maximize on profits.

Innovations

With new technologies come innovations. One of the general guideline of running a successful business is to make a point that you are providing the market with solutions that they really need if you want to stay relevant. When you look at most markets today, they are flooded with the same items whether it is food, shoes, clothing, electronics and so on. This means that to wow the market, the future of home business will likely feature some new products that have never been established in the market before. This will most likely cause a stir as the innovators see whether their products will be hit or miss.

Production Space

It is also likely that there are some industries that will close shop and relocate the production premise to the house. This will be something that the future of home business will have to struggle with because it may cause some conflicts at home especially if it is a noisy production plant. This said however, it could end up saving the business a huge amount of money especially when moved to a place where the person has already bought the land because they will not have to deal with rent and transport expenses among many others. This is however, something that needs to be well thought of to ensure that you will only be getting better results from the entire move.

Running a home business does not for one second mean that things will be easy and you can just sit back and watch as your money grow on a tree. You will definitely have to put in some effort to ensure that all operations run smoothly especially with all the changes that are likely to happen with the future of home business thus you always need to be at the top of the game to be successful.

Technology For Homeschooling Families

Families who choose to homeschool their families are often ridiculed by others who can’t quite seem to understand how or why they would make such a decision. Some may think that parents should allow other so-called, “experts,” to focus on the work of educating their children. They may believe that there is no possible way a parent, who does not have a background in the study of education, can possibly give their own child an education comparable to what they would receive in public or private school settings. What these opposing families may not know is that technology for at-home educators has the potential to support children in achieving their learning goals. Online communities of homeschoolers and even options to receive a high school diploma online are just two resources that provide support for families that have decided to take the road less traveled when it comes to educating their children.

DIY Media Learning Solutions

Many Americans may remember the media department at their school as a child. The department provided the teacher with a huge television strapped to a rolling cart with a matching VCR when they needed to watch an educational movie, or a projector and white screen when viewing slides. These were usually educational items that were produced by someone else. It was the teacher’s job to decide why to use the piece and how to implement it to make it relevant to the lesson.

While these items still have a place in the classroom (albeit using more modern tools), the changes in technology that has allowed people to move from being consumers of media to creators of media is amazing. Tools like Photoshop allow people to take photos, chop them up, add colors, etc. to tell a story. Final Edit Pro does something similar for people using video. Some may object to these tools citing that they are too expensive for some budget conscious families to afford. However a little internet research will unveil free tools that provide the same basic service. So even those families on a shoestring budget can create their own media, just without all the bells and whistles.

These DIY media creation tools allow families to allow their child to unleash their creativity and individualism through the development of critical thinking skills. What better way is there to allow a child to practice their newly acquired intermediate French language skills by creating a 2 minute commercial convincing others to buy their favorite cereal. How about creating a blog comparing Jazz musicians from the US and Brazil. Doing these types of activity requires lots of research which, in turn, improves their reading and critical thinking ability. It also gives them a chance to develop the artistic side of their brain learning how to properly layout information for the web so that it is reader friendly, choosing colors that best convey their message, and perhaps practicing a bit of creative writing. There are even options for completing a high school diploma online to get access to more advanced courses that will prepare them for college.

There are loads of social opportunities that can happen through the use of technology within homeschooling families. There are online communities of children that include people from all over the world, or home schooled children from right in your state or town. There are even more groups and forums for parents who are looking for fresh learning materials, advice on how to teach an old subject in an engaging method, or just camaraderie with other parents who understand and support their chosen lifestyle. All it takes is a bit of research and ingenuity to find the resources you need to put it together in a way that fits your family’s lifestyle.

Five Design Strategies For The Ideal Home Office

Working from home offers significant advantages for many individuals. Whether you run your own work-from-home business or telecommute from an office job, creating a functional and attractive home office can boost your productivity and reduce distractions during regular business hours. Managing your working space may entail some changes to your home's overall layout. Here are five strategies for designing your own unique office space inside your home.

Clear some space

Creating a blank canvas is the first step in the design process for your new home office. Clear out the clutter and get rid of the unnecessary. Most people find that working in a pleasant, organized space is the most effective component to productivity.

Stick to the essentials

For basic home offices, a computer system with an Internet connection, a desk and a telephone may be all that is required. Depending on your line of work, you may also require a drafting desk, file cabinet, printer, fax machine or a specialized workspace. Consider the requirements of your job and your personal comfort level when choosing your desk and chair; most of your working time will be spent in or around these important home office furnishings, so choosing well-constructed and ergonomic desks and seating can make a significant difference in the quality of life you experience in your daily work activities.

Create barricades

Once you've established your personal working space, it's important to separate that area from the rest of the house to prevent continual interruptions and distractions from your work. Bookcases, movable screens and other portable furnishings can provide valuable separation between household activities and your workspace. This can boost your productivity and ensure that you have a private space for managing your working responsibilities.

Set the stage

Just as set designers create the right backdrops for various productions, you can design and decorate your home office to promote better work habits. For sales and other high-energy professions, choosing bright and bold colors for your workspace can boost your spirits and increase your effectiveness. Creative and administrative pursuits may be best served by more muted shades and carefully chosen artwork and posters. In some cases, it may be beneficial to imitate the decor of your regular office; this can promote the right mindset for maximum productivity in your working environment at home.

Lay the groundwork

Depending on your existing flooring and your choice of chair, it may be helpful to use a plastic mat or other protective surface to guard against scratches and scuffs when your chair rolls. This inexpensive addition to your home office can potentially save you hundreds of dollars in refinishing and repair costs over the long run.

Creating your own functional workspace can help you to manage your job responsibilities and to telecommute effectively. By incorporating these five strategies into your overall design, you can enjoy a work-at-home environment that boosts your productivity and suits your needs in the working world. One final tip? If you’re short on space, consider looking into storage solutions such as portable storage containers or renting a unit at your local self-storage facility. A little extra space can go a long way in creating a positive workspace.

The Top 10 Ways To Get More Traffic To Your Home Business Website

Web traffic is a critical parameter that can be used to determine the success or failure of a website. It is the number of users that visit a site. Every site usually records and keeps data about web traffic. This allows them to monitor and enhance web traffic by getting rid of website designing defects. High web traffic is definitely a great achievement for any home business site that aspires to reach as many customers as possible. There are many ways of increasing traffic to your website. If you own a home based business and plan to increase your web presence, here are some of the top 10 ways to draw more traffic to your home business website.

Optimizing Your Website

Search Engine Optimization can work wonders concerning your rankings on the search engines, hence more traffic. Enlist your business website on the major search engines such as Google, MSN or Yahoo and you will increase your web presence.

Concentrate On the Keyword

Keywords offer the best way to attract people to view your site. Therefore, you need to use keyword research tools to identify keyword phrases that would attract high searches. Nevertheless, remember not to spam your site with such keywords, since many search engines would blacklist your website for using such malpractices. Keywords would increase traffic to your website only if they are used in the appropriate place. Therefore, ensure they feature in the title, summary and introductory paragraph of your web content.

Write Original Web Content

Web content helps to improve traffic and ranking of a website. Your content should be of high quality, original and focus on your keywords. Ensure the content is updated regularly as no one wants to read outdated web content. Avoid posting irrelevant content, as it would only lower your traffic. If you post fresh and resourceful content, then web users will surely visit your site regularly.

Begin Blogging

Today, blogging is one of the best ways to increase your web presence. When you blog, internet users would be able to access your site and so the web traffic increases. All you have to do is create a blog and write unique content, and more traffic will begin to flow towards your site.

Use Viral Marketing

Another simple but effective way to increase traffic to your website is by using viral marketing techniques such as flash games, word-of-mouth publicity, video clips, video games, brochures, software, eBooks, yellow pages and text messages.

Use Internet Advertising and Social Media

Internet advertising is one of the most effective ways to promote your home business around the world by sharing information with audience from different parts of the globe. You can even use different languages so that more people can understand the info on your website. On the same note, you can also use social media to spread the information. Use popular networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter to promote your business.

Join Forums

If you participate in forums, you will be able to improve traffic to your business site. Posting questions and comments about your business will create awareness about it. You can also respond to questions about your products raised by the potential clients.

Submit Articles

Submitting articles offer your website greater exposure to the targeted audience through links in the content or resource box. By writing high quality articles that correspond to your web content, you can include links to your website in the article to gain new visitors. You may also submit your articles to social bookmarking sites to get more traffic.

Linking

Search engines usually find it much easier to crawl deeper into the website, if it has text links. Therefore, using text links would make your site more accessible to the search engines. Likewise, most search engines pay more attention to how many external links a site has when ranking a website. Therefore, exchanging links with websites that have information corresponding to your website would be beneficial.

Use Online Directories

Online directories can substantially increase your web traffic. They are very effective in finding websites that are in a specific category. Search engines can show all possible results but online directories just list sites with significant information and rich content. To enjoy the benefits linked with online directories, your website should be listed in popular and organized directories.

The iPhone Babysitter - Entertaining Kids With Apps

With the number of iPhone users skyrocketing in recent years, you're more likely to be close to someone who has one than none.. It's pretty amazing how they're a gaming device, music player, camera, GPS, and web browser all in one - but that's not nearly all they do. Who knew that one day, while babysitting, your very own cell phone would help buy you an hour or so while you do what you need to do?

App developers have gotten extremely crafty, and that's lucky for anyone who's got kids to entertain. If you've babysat a toddler before, you know it can be difficult to even accomplish a simple task, such as applying makeup or washing the dishes. That's why iPhones are coming in handy now more than ever. Check out these frequently downloaded apps that can keep young ones glued to the screen for hours -- they're a total godsend for babysitters and busy parents. Here are just a few of the kid-loving applications:

Dr. Seuss' ABC App

This one's a favorite because it's a double whammy -- rather than being just a game that keeps kids glued to the screen, it gets them reading and works their mind. Dr. Seuss' ABC is basically an interactive version of an old favorite Seuss book. Kids can either read the book themselves, flipping the pages on the touch screen, or have it read to them. The kids can also tap pictures on the screen for a verbal caption. It's great for teaching kids to read, but the process is lengthy enough to buy you some time!

Adobe Ideas

Got a crafty kid? No time for cleaning up a mess of paint and oil pastels? Adobe Ideas, a free app, is here to help. It provides a basic canvas and a number of different tools and colors so kids can use their fingers to create digital masterpieces. You can even upload pictures from your photo gallery and draw on them, so kids can have a fun time playing with the camera and drawing on pictures of themselves, pets, and their parents.

Fruit Ninja

Fruit Ninja is an iPhone game that's fun for kids, but you'll find yourself playing it on public transportation even after you leave. It simply involves slicing fruit in half that's been thrown into the air, and gets more complicated as non-fruit items get thrown into the mix and you have to remember to avoid them. This is one of those games, though, that get very intense -- you might want to make sure you've got a sturdy iPhone case just in case the phone gets dropped or flung in the heat of competition!

It's hard not to wonder when phones will stop advancing. After all, they're already miniature computers, and there's almost nothing they can't do. But when you've got young, difficult-to-entertain kids on your hands, you'll be thankful for every ridiculous app that's been released, since there are so many that are perfect for keeping kids busy when nothing else will.

Does Your Kid Want To Use A PC? Teach Them How To Use A Mouse!

Children from toddler age upwards are obsessed with computers. They want to do everything that their bigger siblings can do, so it won’t be long before they want to use computers themselves. There’s no point in resisting it – they’ll get there sooner or later, and used in the right way, the internet can be a valuable learning tool. These days there are entire sites devoted to toddlers, helping them to learn new skills and creating a great place for entertainment. Your child needs to be able to use a mouse in order to access this information, so when you feel like the time is right, you need to teach them. Here’s how you do it: image source here..

Get a Child-Friendly Mouse

A mouse that toddlers can use should have big buttons and be easy to manoeuvre. Slow down the mouse speed in your computer’s settings – this will help your child track the movement and point accurately.  Make the arrow nice and big too, and perhaps make it a really bright colour so it’s easy enough to spot. All this will give your toddler the best chance of getting the hang of it.

Demonstration Time!

Show your toddler how it works. Using a toddler-friendly website, demonstrate how you click on various items. Show them the difference between clicking and double clicking (but most toddler sites use only the single click to make it easier for them). Have a look for toddler games and training aids online – there are loads.

Let Them Do it Themselves

Designer Kids Clothes: Yay Or Nay?

Many women dream of having a child that looks just like them. After all, who wouldn’t want a little ‘mini me’ who looks, dresses, and acts exactly like them? However, some mothers are taking this trend to a whole new level by splashing out on thousands of pounds worth of high-end kids’ clothes.

Couture for kids is big business right now with tiny t-shirts setting you back a few hundred pounds. With Tom Cruise’s daughter Suri rapidly becoming a child style icon the amount of mothers snapping up kids clothes with big price tags has grown enormously.

The question is are these mothers just trying to make their children look good, or is spending hundreds of pounds on clothing your child will soon grow out of madness?

Who buys the clothes?

If designer clothing isn’t at the top of your list of priorities you might be wondering just who it is that buys these high end items for their children. Obviously a lot of wealthy parents are more than happy to flash their cash when it comes to dressing their children, but there are a lot of parents who haven’t got a big budget that still fork out for expensive outfits.

Stories of parents going without food or getting themselves into debt so they can dress their children in the latest fashions might seem mad, but psychologists have suggested reasons for this behaviour.

Psychologists claim that the parents who dress their kids in couture use the high price clothing as a status symbol, sending a message to the world that they are rich, or at least would like the world to think they’re rich.

Is it sending the wrong message to kids?

Until children are old enough to buy and choose their own clothes they are going to be a mirror of their parent’s tastes. This might mean wearing designer items, regardless of whether they’ll soon grow out of their clothes or simply wear them to roll around in the muddy park.

Some parents worry that buying these luxury items sends the wrong message to kids and makes them only interested in material goods rather than becoming a good person and useful member of society.

Ultimately to a child clothes are clothes, but as they grow older they’ll realise by interacting with their peers what fits in with the social norms and what doesn’t. Whether you dress them in designer togs or not they’ll soon realise the symbols of wealth and power.

What about the designers?

These savvy fashionistas have spotted a gap in the market and realised that parents will pay for children’s’ designer clothes. Everyone wants the best for their children and if that means going into triple digits for the right party dress then mothers will hand over the cash.

Big names including Gucci and Fendi are rolling out tiny versions of their adult catwalk collections so now parents really can dress their children in exactly the same outfits as they wear themselves.

So what do you think? Designer kids clothes, yay or nay?

Simple And Healthy Recipes That Your Children Will Enjoy

Teaching kids from an early age about good, wholesome and nutritious meals will help them create healthy lifestyle patterns that will last them for the rest of their lives. At Anchor Dairy you can find simple and healthy recipes that your children will enjoy.

Old fashioned favourites with a healthy twist that are quick and easy to prepare after a long day will have hungry children racing to the dinner table, rather than dragging their feet.

Fish

Fish is one of the best sources of protein for any child. It is low in fat, high in vitamins and minerals our growing kids need to help to build strong teeth, eyes, skin and nails. Add to this is the fact that fish is a well-known brain food. Mums around the world are looking for ways to introduce this super food to their kids in a fun and enjoyable way.

Chicken

Coronation chicken is great, it can be prepared at home and tastes even better (and can be used as a light meal when yogurt is used instead of mayonnaise). Fussy kids with small appetites will love coronation chicken. There doesn't have to be a lot on their plate to overwhelm them. Little portions of baby carrots, peas and corn are a great side dish; colourful, tasty and packed full of goodness.

Another great meal for kids is a mini quiche; use muffin pans to cook your egg mix in and you can use all sorts of yummy and nutritious ingredients that your kids will love. This way you can make mini quiches without a base and give them a quirky name – Dory's Egg Muffins and your kids will ask for them often. Add a sprinkling of mozzarella just before you bake them in the oven and pop them on the plate hot and healthy, or keep them in an airtight container for picnics or snacks on the go.

Homemade

Other foods like homemade fish fingers are also very easy to prepare and if you use a fish that’s a cod substitute you are also being a lot greener. The likes of Pollock and whiting are a lot more abundant than the traditional cod and can make for an equally tasty fish finger – so why not get your kids to give it a try?

Preparation and planning is important when it comes to making family meals and busy mums don't have to make separate meals for adults and children as many do. You can just quickly prepare the kid's version in a slightly different way using the same ingredients.

Stir fry veggies for kids in a separate pan without soya sauce, add a dash of garlic and sprinkle with a crumble of feta cheese or mixed nuts as it hits the plate. The kids will love the colour that the soya sauce would have otherwise taken away and all the crunchy bits on top; and while the adults feast on homemade Chinese stir fry the kids get their own healthy version too.

Getting Ready For Your Baby

Having a child is one of the biggest life changing things that we do as having a child impacts on our entire life. You can never be truly prepared to become a parent as every child is different and people deal with things in different ways. There are preparations that you can do though in your life to help keep your child healthy and also get your home ready for the arrival of your bundle of joy. Making sure that you eat a balanced and healthy diet as well as getting plenty of exercise is important for all of us, not only people who are pregnant. Getting into a routine of diet and exercise will help to keep you healthy as well as your child, meaning you can pass on a healthy habit to your children.

Diet

A lot of us eat food which is convenient as everybody is in a rush now days and claims not to have any time. Pre prepared foods and take away food is ok for an occasional treat, but they are extremely unhealthy over an extended period of time. We need to control the amount of fats and preservatives as well as additives that we eat to stay fit and healthy. If you look on the internet you will be able to find 1000’s of recipes which can be prepared in less than 20 minutes, using fresh ingredients and controlling exactly what you and your family are putting into your bodies. The food does not need to be boring either as there are lots of things you can eat which are good for you if prepared and cooked healthily. When you are pregnant you do not need to significantly increase the amount that you eat as your body can get all of the nutrition it needs from a balanced and healthy diet.

Exercise

Exercise is important for everyone and most of us could do with doing a lot more of it. Even when you are pregnant there are exercises that you can do which are good for you and will not harm your baby. Swimming is probably the best example as you get to exercise all of the major muscle groups whilst at the same time it is low impact as your bodyweight is supported by the water, and you are not pounding the joints. You can also try Aerobics, Palates or Yoga and get yourself a book or DVD so that you can do this at home. You can even take the dog out for a long brisk walk as they will definitely appreciate it.

Wardrobe

It is hard to plan your wardrobe far in advance when you are pregnant as you are not sure how big you are going to get. If you do see a maternity clothing sale with some larger clothes, it still may be an idea to choose something which you like the look of and would be comfortable to wear. With all of the changes that will happen to your body, being comfortable is going to be very important. This may mean getting a bigger supportive bra as your breasts swell and also a comfortable pair of shoes which give you plenty of support. Ankles and legs can swell, so you do not want to wear anything too constricting.

The House

You can make changes around the house to prepare for when your child is going to be crawling and walking. This may mean getting a baby gate and having locks for cupboards installed. Safety plugs are another good idea, and you really need to get down on your hands and knees and see what is going to catch a baby’s eye. You will need to make sure that any fires or radiators are adequately blocked to make sure they do not burn themselves. You may need to get pets used to changes as well, keeping dogs downstairs or maybe even outside, depending on your climate. Just as you do not really learn to drive until you have passed your test and drive your car alone on the road, you cannot prepare yourself too much to become a parent. It is a learning curve which you need to take one day at a time.

12 Things To Do Immediately After Realizing You Are Pregnant

Find out that you are pregnant can be an exciting, yet scary time for a woman. If this is your first pregnancy, it can be difficult to know exactly what you should do once you find out. This article will give you some advice on how to proceed after a positive pregnancy test.

1. Process Your Emotions:
Take some time to figure out how your newly discovered pregnancy makes you feel. A lot of emotions will be racing through your mind at first, it is important to sit down and consider how this pregnancy will affect your life, finances, career and current relationships.

2. Tell the Father: Regardless of if you are in a relationship with the father, he should know about the pregnancy since it is also partly his responsibility. The two of you need to work together to decide how to handle things regarding the pregnancy and child from here on out.

3. See a Doctor. It is important to see an obstetrician or gynecologist as soon as possible so that you can begin prenatal care. If you do not have health coverage you should get some now. If you can’t afford health coverage, look into government assistance programs available for pregnant women with low incomes.

4. Decide When to Tell Other People.
You and the father should decide when it will be appropriate to tell friends and family about your pregnancy.

5. Assess Your Finances: You will need to first make a list of everything your baby will need for at least the first few months after it is born. Figure out how these expenses will play into your finances. It may be necessary for you or the father to find a better job, second jobs or seek assistance from the government or family and friends.

6. Communicate with the Father: The two of you should be communicating on a regular basis as you make decisions about the pregnancy and the baby. This is important if you are going to work together to be effective parents.

7. Bond with Your Baby: The bond between a mother and child begins during pregnancy. Take time to enjoy being pregnant and acknowledge the life you are carrying.

8. Read Pregnancy Books or Join Message Boards:
It can be helpful to read books that deal with certain pregnancy-related issues you are experiencing. You can also find support from other women who are experiencing the same things by joining various pregnancy message boards and forums.

9. Take it Easy: As pregnancy progresses, your discomfort and fatigue will increase. Take naps or rest when you need to and delegate tasks to others if possible.

10. Focus on Your Health:
Follow a healthy diet full of fresh fruits and vegetables and take any supplements or vitamins that your doctor/midwife recommends.

11. Prepare Your Home: Make sure that you have a nursery or at least a crib ready for your baby’s arrival. Also make sure you have an ample supply of necessities like bottles, bibs, diapers and baby clothes.

12. Have a Baby Shower: Invite friends and family over to celebrate the upcoming birth. Create a registry or list of gift items that you would like to receive.

No one can completely be prepared for motherhood, but by following these twelve tips, you can make it a lot easier for you to successfully navigate pregnancy and get ready for the new baby.

How To Get Your Kids Interested In Maths

The emphasis on encouraging kids to read and write often leaves maths and numbers overlooked. But maths is just as crucial an ability as reading! We use maths everyday of the week. Whether it’s dividing up the food bill at a restaurant, or working out how much your friend’s requested sixth of a birthday cake actually looks like in size. Motivating your children to practise their maths skills, from a young age, is a no brainer for their future success.

It’s plain to see why parents and teachers alike find it easier to keep their kids interested in reading in comparison to maths. Maths is hard! When children make a mistake, they’re likely to give up straight away. Stop this inherent nature to quit before they’ve started by encouraging your kids every step of the way.

Puzzles

Puzzles which involve numbers such as Sudoku or bingo are a great place to start to get your child to grips working with numbers. Ease them in and get their brain up and running with this fun warm up activity.

Relate to the Real World

Children often find it difficult to grasp concepts which they can’t find an immediate use for. Just like they won’t use a word again if they’re likely to  forget its meaning, if they can’t see the need for a maths sum they’ll disregard it. Encourage your kids into thinking that maths is handy in the everyday world. Teach them fractions by portioning up the pizza they’re having for their dinner one evening. Similarly ask them to solve problems at the supermarket such as how much change you should receive or how much three bags of sweets would cost.

Money

As soon as children understand the importance of money, they’re more likely to recognise the value of maths. Adding a £ sound to the front of a big number suddenly makes it less daunting for a child and more appealing, after all, a bigger sum equals more toys! Board games involving money such as Monopoly or Payday are good ways to get them practicing addition and subtraction without them realising they are doing so.

Video Games

It’s hard to keep your kids interested in learning from home when computers and the TV are a constant distraction. Why not combine your children’s love of video games with practising their maths skills by finding suitable online games. Trial them yourself first, to check they’re challenging enough to be productive. Get them to record their high scores to monitor progress by working out the average scores.

Motivating pupils to stay interested in maths needn’t be difficult with these methods. Set a good example by working out the grocery shopping out loud, instead of reaching for the calculator on your mobile. And finally, reward progress appropriately. If your child correctly works out how many sweets will be left if you take away 10, let them eat up the remainder!

Do you have any other tips for keeping children motivated in maths? Comment your advice and experiences below to help fellow parents or teachers.

Back To Work - Preparing To Return To The Workplace After Maternity Leave

Whether you feel it looming towards you like a black cloud, or whether you’re counting down the days until you return to adult company, at some point in the lives of most working mothers, the maternity leave will come to an end. In terms of preparation, this will vary from family to family. Everyone’s circumstances are different. The length of leave will vary and therefore so will the age of the children. Some jobs will require a brushing up of skills before the worker returns. Some will have more family support than others. Whatever your circumstances, there is some great advice out there to help you make the transition back to work run as smoothly as possible. Read on to arm yourself with the best tips to make things easier for you and your family.

Preparation

Begin to prepare yourself emotionally in time for the big day. You may as well accept that it will probably be difficult leaving your baby or small child in the care of others for the first time. Even if you are going stir-crazy traipsing from the park to toddler group, or watching Peppa Pig re-runs on the DVD, you will probably miss this special time when it goes. You might well feel ready to return to work but you need to acknowledge that it will be a tug. Try to really enjoy your last stretch at home. Make the most of doing those daytime activities with your child before it comes to an end. Of course, some women might not find it a tug, and be chomping at the bit to ditch the daytime routine of the early years. That’s fine too. We’re all different.

Settling in

As well as preparing yourself emotionally for the big change, you need to prepare your child/children. It would be cruel to give them no clue about what’s happening. If your child is old enough to understand, then talk to them well in advance. With a baby, they may not understand what’s happening, but you can still prepare them. If they’ve never been left with anyone else, even for short periods, then a sudden drop-off at a nursery or child-minder is going to be traumatic. Some children will find it extremely difficult, even with preparation, but if you can build up to it by leaving them for increasingly long periods with family or friends, then this is bound to help. It is also important to make the most of the settling in periods at your chosen childcare provider. Most places will have a settling in model and have advice on how to deal with any upsetting goodbyes. Work with them to make the transition as smooth as possible for your child.

So You're Thinking Of Hiring A Nanny - Read This!

Hiring a nanny is a great way to ensure that your kids are well looked after – whether you’re a single mum who works full time or a part time worker who just needs an extra hand around the house. Hiring a nanny could cost less than you might think – it depends which part of the country you live in and what type of nanny you’re looking for. Obviously a fully qualified and experienced nanny will cost more than a nanny who is still in training. Here are a few tips to make your nanny hiring experience that little bit more straightforward.

Want Peace of Mind? Use an Agency

If you don’t fancy the idea of spending hours sifting through paperwork, checking references, CRB checks and trying to find the perfect nanny for your children, then it’s best to use an agency. There are many nanny agencies across the country that offer a professional service. They check nanny’s qualifications, experience and references as well as carrying out background checks to make sure you know who you are hiring. Working with an agency offers you some degree of protection should your relationship with your nanny break down or should you be dissatisfied with their services – most agencies will be happy to work with you to try and resolve the situation or find you a replacement nanny. Using an agency is also a great idea to cover periods when your nanny is sick or on holiday as they will provide you with a replacement.

Never Underestimate the Importance of Personality

Even if the agency you’re using insist that the nanny they have matched you with is right for the job, make sure that you and your children get along with her. Personality is key when it comes to finding the perfect nanny – she needs to be somebody who shares at least some of your values and beliefs, as she will be spending a considerable amount of time with your children – she’ll play a big part in their lives! Make sure she has excellent communication skills and also listens to instructions – she’s your nanny so she has been hired to carry out tasks as you request. There’s no point hiring a nanny who does her own thing and doesn’t respect your wishes!

Telecommuting: The Answer to Filipino Unemployment

Philippines—Gone are the days when new graduates are welcomed to the world of the unemployed. Because you have the power of the Internet at the tip of your fingers, the employment opportunities made available to you have just shifted from local to global. And this does not even talk about the kind of global where you would have to process a lot of documents, loan a great amount to settle placement fees, and travel to a foreign land where you would have to stay for a contracted duration. You can actually work internationally at the comfort of your very own home.

Sure enough, you are familiar with the concept of telecommuting, wherein all you need to do is to find an employer who is looking to hire virtual staff from a different country or location other than the one he or she is in. These employers could be anywhere across the globe; they could even be in the Philippines, but in a different city or region. Telecommuting would not require you to go to an office at a particular time each day. This saves you the hassle of having to prepare for work in a hurried pace every morning just so you could beat the heavy traffic.
Telecommuting has a lot of benefits that are not limited only to being able to wear your pajamas at home during work time or to avoid the need to commute. If you’re lucky enough, you can find an employer who can allow you to work on a flexible time schedule. This means that you do not have to stick to the typical office routine of working straight hours during the day. You can choose to start your working hours in the afternoon or at night as long as you submit the expected output on time. This kind of flexibility can allow you to maximize your time during the day, especially if you have family duties to fulfill or what not.

Spring Cleaning Tips For Your Lingerie Drawer

With spring well and truly on its way, many of us will be thinking of giving the house a good spring clean. However, the arrival of spring shouldn’t just signify a house clean; it should also encourage you to revisit your lingerie drawer and clean out the old, whilst bringing in some spectacular new underwear.

Spring cleaning your lingerie drawer is good for the mind as you can get rid of all the discoloured, holey and just downright old underwear. So here’s some top spring cleaning tips to get you started:

Try everything on again

The majority of women have a lot of underwear that actually doesn’t fit them. Whether too big or too small, it seems women have a penchant for keeping hold of lingerie that’s the wrong size. Many women keep ill-fitting underwear without even considering wearing it at any point and if this is you, just accept the fact you’re not going to wear it and chuck it out.

If you are someone who wears the wrong size underwear, this is even worse. Not only are you probably experiencing some kind of pain on a daily basis, but what you are wearing probably doesn’t even look very good because it’s too tight or too loose.  Unless you feel totally comfortable and well-supported with every item in your underwear drawer, you need to get binning!
What’s the condition like?

Unfortunately even the best lingerie becomes discoloured at some point. So with this in mind, even if it’s your favourite bra or pair of knickers, you need to get rid of anything that’s looking off-colour. You also need to throw out anything that has a hole in it. Even if it is the smallest of holes…this hole will only grow and get worse through wearing and washing. There is just no point keeping anything that’s in a worsening condition.

The same is also true of any items where the elastic can be seen. Unfortunately many undergarments are not built to last anymore and through wearing and washing, the elastic can often snap and split and the ends become visible through the material. Just bite the bullet and get rid of any such items.

Know About Cost of Travelling in London

London is one of the most famous cities in the world; this metropolitan region is well known for a number of things such as great tourist sites like Tussauds, Big Ben, the Tower of London, and Thames River among other destinations. London being the capital city England also offers numerous opportunities for business as well as other commercial activities. However, the cost of living in London is quite high; this will range from high accommodation costs, high cost of food and most of all, the high cost of transport. Cost of transport in London includes train, bus or taxi fare as well as cost of parking a car in the central business districts.

Despite the highly developed transport system in London, the transport network normally gets overwhelmed especially during rush hours or peak hours which run early in the morning between 7-9 pm and late in the evening from 4 -7 pm. London is the most populous city in Europe and has over eight million residents; the city also has to cope with the ever increasing numbers of tourists as well as other travelers passing through the town to access other nearby towns. This is the reason the transport costs keep on soaring year in year out in a bid to keep up with the demand as well as maintain the transportation system. Rail transport offers slightly cheaper charges as compared to road transport but it is limited to certain zones.

Organic Skin care – a gift from nature

A beautiful looking skin is like an ornament for every woman. Since the beginning of time women are known to be careful of preserving their looks, complexion and are ready to walk an extra mile to protect their skin from depreciation. However, today’s women understand that it is not just about how your skin looks from outside…what’s more important is that it should be equally healthy from inside as only then you have a better chance of ,maintaining a charming skin in the years ahead.

Most cosmetic products ensure a healthy glow of skin but soon the luster fades out due to being exposed to sunlight, pollution and other stringent conditions. Hence, there is an absolute necessity of preserving the value of your skin and making it healthy inside out. Natural skin care products offer you the easiest, safest and most economic way of maintaining a good skin condition.

Natural skin care solutions are so named because they use ingredients derived from natural sources like flowers, seeds, herbs, roots, essential oil etc. and combines them with preservatives, emulsifiers, and surfactants. Instead of using synthetic chemicals which can cause potential damage to the skin, naturally occurring components are used. However, essential oils have to be handled with care as it always runs a risk of cross contamination.

Planning Your Move - 4 Do's & Don'ts

It’s time to pack it up and get going again, and if you are like most people, relocating can seem like more than a little bit of a headache.

However, it doesn’t have to completely rule your world from now until the big day. Simply be strategic and try to heed these four “Do’s” and “Don’ts.”

1) DO: Shop Around for Local Movers

Whether you’re hiring St. Louis movers or a company elsewhere in the country, one thing’s for sure – prices vary. What a company includes in their services can also change from business to business.

As such, one of the first things you should do is to get multiple quotes – binding, in-house estimates if possible – from at least three different organizations. Then you can assess your budget, as well as think about what you require for help and what you can do yourself, to be certain it’s affordable.

2) DON’T: Assume It’s All Or Nothing – Full Service or DIY

One mistake that many on-the-go individuals tend to make is to simply assume that they can’t afford any professional help and will have to go it completely alone.

The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of solutions available that have varying levels of do-it-yourself, hands-on work involved.

For instance, many businesses do offer a full menu of services, where you can have them pack, clean and even do other extra things you need for a fee, such as set up electronic equipment. However, many will also just transport your belongings for you at a certain cost, while you do the packing and loading.

Another option is trying portable storage. Pods and similar choices allow you to pack at your leisure, and then a truck will come take your storage and deliver it to your new home for you to unload. Or, you can have it taken to a facility for the time being until you need it.

Explore a range of options.

Considering Domestic Adoption?

The number of couples in the United States that are unable to have children of their own is growing, yet there are many parents out there that are putting their babies and children of all ages up for adoption, and all for a variety of reasons. They may feel they are not ready to be parents yet, they may not have the means necessary to raise their child the way that they want, and desire better for their upbringing, or for whatever reason that they cannot make the commitment to their children for the long term, but they still want the best for them. They place them up for adoption so that he or she has the best possible future. Since they are putting their children up for domestic adoption, it becomes possible for other American families to grow and expand. Domestic adoption is a great solution for couples and children alike to form the loving families that they dream of for so long.

Once a family has decided they are interested in adopting a child, they are opening a new door to their future. In the beginning, it is critical to locate the right adoption agency because the process is extensive and goes best when guided by the experienced professionals that work daily in domestic adoptions.

People use internet search engines for just about everything in life, and it is a great beginning for your search in domestic adoption, but you are going to want to do some major legwork after getting the initial names and leads online to make sure that you find the right adoption agency for your family. You can also get referrals for domestic adoption agencies from your doctor, gynecologist, attorney and even your licensed family therapist. These people might be directly involved in another adoption at some point. You may know families with adopted children who you can seek recommendations and insight from.

Take the time to make some phone calls to the adoption agencies you are considering for literature they can send you. This is a great way to find out more about each agency without leaving your home. You are able to check out information on domestic adoption, as well as the other services that the agency offers to clients. Pre-placement services, home studies, and other processes required during domestic adoption can be handled by an experienced and professional adoption agency. It is also a good idea to confirm that the agency is state licensed. Another thing you want to look into is pre-adoption services they offer and post-adoption services as well, since becoming a new parent can be very overwhelming.

Something else you want to consider when finding an adoption agency for your domestic adoption is how long they have been around. While it is ideal that the entire process goes smoothly, sometimes that is not the case, and having someone with many years of experience on your side can help to ensure that you have the best chance for having a successful domestic adoption.

When you choose domestic adoption to grow your family, the last thing that you want to deal with is surprises when it comes to money. It is a good idea to discuss up front all charges that are to be incurred from the agency, and get all of these charges in writing. Make sure you ask questions about the process and steps, you don’t want to leave any stone unturned when it comes to adopting your child.

Domestic adoption can be a wonderful thing for families who are unable to have children. Plus children without homes end up with a home to call their own, and they get the one thing they need the most- a loving family that is all theirs. Although the final result is extremely rewarding, it is a drawn out process, and finding the right adoption agency is vital for guiding you through the steps, and working on your behalf to make your domestic adoption go as easy as possible.

Five Reasons Not To Listen To Popular Fashion Designers

There are certain groups of people whose opinions are highly sought after around the world, almost on a daily basis.  Perhaps unsurprisingly, politicians don’t rank highly on the list.

Whether it is a positive or a negative sign that more people would rather ask Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga what they think about global warming, for example, we’ll leave for you to decide. One group whose opinions count for much, for completely different reasons than with the two individuals we mentioned, is fashion designers.

Of course, those two will get some attention in that respect, too, but we digress.

While fashion is big business, there are many reasons you would be well served not to listen to some of the most popular designers around.

Just an Opinion

By far one of the biggest quirks about fashion is that a globally reaching industry can be a success based on the opinion of a few people. Ultimately, that is what a lot of mainstream fashion is, an opinion.

Therefore, if you are passionate about your own style and the way you look, why are you listening to someone who is happy to tell you that you’re unfashionable without ever having so much as looked at you? The debate around fashion often escalates to the point where it is easy to forget that it is just what someone thinks, and sometimes not worth getting involved with.

In it For Them

If you had your own designs of clothing, and were an influential voice in the industry, it is only natural that you would proclaim your designs as the best, the ones that are definitely ‘in,’ and those that people everywhere should be flocking to buy.

Still, it gives you another reason not to listen to designers, as they’re effectively just selling their designs to you. We wouldn’t go so far as to say they don’t care about how you look, as most probably do, but at the end of the day it is their bank balance that benefits.

fashion for yourselfIt’s a Competition

Some designers know that people will buy their clothes no matter what, which is why some collections degenerate into a game of one-upmanship where designer A wants to have more press time than B, who in turn had the same objectives following the release of C’s collection.

Are you an independent style lover or a pawn in the game?

It’s Not a Competition

What are we talking about having just made the opposite point?

This time we’re looking at things on the consumer level. It doesn’t really make a difference what you wear – although the designers will tell you otherwise. Getting a job won’t depend on what the label says, and nor will your friends judge you on this basis.

Fashion is Personal

This is the point to all fashion, is it not? Fashion is something that is deeply personal, it depends on our personality, our body shape, and so much more other than what a designer puts on a model before they walk down a runway in front of the world’s media.

Be true to yourself and don’t listen to the world’s popular fashion designers, you’ll do a much better job for yourself.
